INFANT SWIMMING RESOURCE

I know it has been a LONG time since I have posted anything!! I needed a break. I took a break from Blogging and Facebook! I have been seeing a counselor for a couple of months now and it has been helpful. I still miss Evan more than anything and I still have days of much heartache and tears......I've learned that they will not end....I will forever have good days and bad days....my good days, will hopefully outweigh the bad, someday. Attending church is still hard....especially when they talk about death of a child (the last two weeks!! are you kidding me)...I can't hold the tears back...

BUT......I have found a resource that I want others to know about. It is called Infant Swimming Resource. You can check out their website at http://www.infantswim.com/. Savannah will be participating in these classes next Spring. I just wish I would have known about them before we lost Evan. These are different than traditional swimming lessons. They teach little ones who fall into a pool to turn over and float until help comes. I watched my first lesson today. (A mom from Kailey's karate class 9 month old son was the demonstration). The baby turned himself over and floated!

I was amazed. I just kept wishing........you know......why didn't I know about this??

I know lots of people will say, "I just can't afford these lessons" BUT, you CAN afford them. Especially the aftermath of losing a child, a child that could have been saved... It is more expensive to lose a child....not just monetarily, but emotionally...the heartache never leaves and your other children will have to grow up with that heartache....

Of course, nothing is 100% guarantee...put up a gate, install safety devices in your home, and do these lessons.... I am going to do all I can to prevent this from ever happening to my family again. These lessons are going to give me a sense of assurance that I am prepared for all things. And then if tragedy falls upon me, I will have done all I could.... Just like putting my children in carseats, and me wearing a seat belt....I am doing all I can.

Anyway, I know I sound preachy, but I miss Evan so much and I wish someone would have preached to me about Infant Float classes. I miss my Angel Boy.

Also, this Saturday we are participating in the Sebastian Ferrero Foundation Swim Safety Event. This event is sponsored by the foundation in hopes for a children's hospital here in town. Sebastian (age 3) died because of an overdose of growth hormone medicine that was given to him at the hospital. Evan is also buried next to him.

Here is the link. www.SebastianFerrero.org/swim There will be free swimming lessons and an activity in Evan's memory in the afternoon.
